Brunost sampling in Newcastle

Brunost sampling in Newcastle

Last Saturday I travelled to Newcastle in England to participate in a Brunost Sampler event in the Fenwick Store there.

I arrived at Fenwick at 10am and the store was already getting crowded from everyone looking for something to buy for Christmas. A table was already set up by the time I arrived and all I had to do was talk to people and tell them about the Norwegian National Cheese!

I met so many interesting people. Most of them had never heard of Norwegian Brunost before, but there was a few people who had been to Norway who knew of it. Several of the people who stopped by our stand expected the samplers to be of toffee or caramel. They were really surprised when I told them it was cheese!! A few people confessed it was really not of their liking, but a huge majority loved it!  They found it to be soft and creamy, and several people said the loved the after taste. Watching their facial expression going from slightly sceptical to amazed was so much fun! It’s really great to be the Brunost Ambassador when you get to introduce to cheese to that many people that like it!

All in all I think the sampler even can be considered a huge success. I believe we found several new Brunost lowers in Newcastle and to our big surprise, the store was sold out of Brunost after a few hours. And hopefully, the people who bought cheese will spread the love for Brunost to their family and friends as well!
